Welcome to our study "Reasons for Dishonesty – Pilot".

Dear participants,

Thank you for your interest in our research project. In this project, we aim to explore how people justify and evaluate decisions in hypothetical scenarios. In the long term, the project is intended to help us understand and modify the motives and circumstances of dishonesty. This online study begins with you watching a video containing a description of a situation, after which we will ask you to answer some questions about it. At the end of the survey, we will collect some personal information regarding your sociodemographic background as well as your personality.

Completing the questionnaire takes about 5 minutes. If you are a psychology student at the University of Münster, you can receive 0.25 participant hours. To do so, please follow the link on the last page of the survey and enter your personal details in the second survey.

Please note that you can only take part if you are at least 18 years of age and have sufficient English skills. If you have any questions, please contact the project team.

Overview of the study procedure:

The following experiment consists of several parts and takes approximately 5 minutes in total. At the beginning, you will watch a video describing a scenario. Afterwards, we will ask you to answer questions about it. In the final part, you will be asked about your age, gender, and income and be asked to complete a personality questionnaire.

You can complete the study on your phone or on a laptop.
